About

Travis Kuhlman is a Southern California–based director, cinematographer, and editor whose work lives at the intersection of cinematic storytelling, adventure, and culture. A San Diego native and graduate of California State University, Long Beach, Travis spent the early years of his career immersed in the world of surf and action sports, traveling to some of the most remote corners of the globe in pursuit of authentic stories and unforgettable imagery.

His work documenting surfers, expeditions, and life on the water took him to more than 30 countries, from tropical Pacific atolls to rugged cold-water coastlines. These experiences shaped a distinctive visual style rooted in movement, atmosphere, and a deep appreciation for the environments and people that make every story unique.

In 2016, Travis relocated to Los Angeles to expand beyond the surf and action sports world, bringing his documentary sensibility and dynamic visual approach into fashion, automotive, commercial, and brand storytelling. His background capturing fast-moving, unpredictable moments in challenging environments gave him a unique perspective that translated naturally into these industries, allowing him to create work that feels both polished and authentic.

Today, Travis collaborates with brands, agencies, and creative teams to produce films and visual campaigns that combine cinematic craftsmanship with compelling storytelling. Whether working on a commercial production, branded content campaign, or documentary project, he remains driven by the same goal that first drew him behind the camera: creating imagery that inspires curiosity, connection, and a sense of adventure.
